You can recover materials invested in a weapon and put them into another. The important condition is your character level: the October pre-release rules allow a lossless refund before level 10; later refunds require the item called 逆炼符 in the Chinese interview. Its final English item label should be checked in the game.
Check the cost before confirming a refund
| Character progression | Announced refund rule |
|---|---|
| Before character level 10 | Upgrade materials can be refunded without loss |
| After the early free-refund period | A specific reforging item is required |
The English menu route, item drop locations, and exact quantity consumed per transaction have not been verified. Check the displayed cost and returned materials before accepting a refund. Do not treat a broad promise that materials can be recovered as proof that the service is always free.

A different weapon can answer a different matchup; this is equipment selection, not a refund screen.
Move investment toward the fight you are facing
A refund is useful when a newly acquired weapon answers a problem your current loadout does not. For example, a weapon with shield-breaking properties can change how you approach a shielded enemy. Recovering an earlier investment lets you experiment without permanently abandoning those materials.
Before changing weapons, distinguish a poor matchup from unfamiliar inputs. Try the new weapon's reach and basic moves, then decide whether to move your upgrade investment. Spending a limited refund item without knowing why you are changing the build can leave you needing another adjustment immediately afterward.
Plan around a limited resource pool
The announced first-run resource supply is enough to fully develop a main weapon combination through main-story progress. Extra exploration supports more options. That makes reforging a way to redistribute progress, rather than evidence that every weapon can be fully upgraded at once. These costs remain pre-release rules as of October 23, 2026.
