Use the ink map as a guide to the shape and direction of a region, rather than an exact route drawn across every ledge and corridor. The hand-painted map is intentionally less precise than a detailed checklist map, leaving part of the navigation to the environment.
In the preview, exploring and resting at bells filled in more of its artwork. An unfinished map therefore does not automatically mean you missed a visible entrance on your current route.
Combine the map with the scene around you
- Open the map to understand your broad position and intended direction.
- Look for major terrain and structures that you can also recognize in the world.
- Follow the actual paths and vertical connections rather than assuming a painted line is a walkable route.
- Revisit the map after exploring or reaching another bell.

Read the broad terrain and regional direction rather than expecting an exact route through every ledge.
The red thread leading toward a nearby bell is another navigation cue. Use it alongside the map when you need a checkpoint, while still checking side routes if you want to explore.
Leave room for later tools
Some paths are gated by secondary weapons or traversal tools obtained later. An anchor point you cannot reach yet is not proof that the map is wrong. Remember where the obstacle is and return when your equipment changes.
The announced design allows travel back to earlier regions through bells. Finishing a chapter's main boss also does not mean you have explored everything in that region.
Revisit branches when your equipment changes
Match the map's broad layout to visible landmarks, then distinguish an unexplored branch from a branch waiting on another tool. Exact icon meanings and every regional route still need checking in the release build as of October 23, 2026.
